Women’s Health Physiotherapists

Kate Basu

Kate is a Physiotherapist with a Special Interest in Women’s Health and Continence who has worked for 8½ years in the Illawarra, treating women with pelvic floor disorders.  She is highly regarded by her peers, referring specialists and patients alike, due to her depth of knowledge, commitment to patient wellbeing and empathy.  Kate completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney, graduating with Distinction in 1998.

Her skill set includes treating complex bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain, sexual pain, pelvic organ prolapse, birth trauma and pre and post-natal assessments. She has undergone extensive training in pelvic floor physiotherapy and has advanced skills in pessary fitting for pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence. Kate firmly believes that knowledge really is power; devoting considerable time during appointments to providing her clients with the information and tools they need to take control of their own health and improve their quality of life.

With a husband and two children of her own, Kate manages her work/life balance to allow her time to enjoy swimming at one of our beautiful local beaches or gathering in a café with her swimming buddies, warming up after an ocean swim.

Erin Brighenti

BPhysio, M.A.P.A

Erin joined the Amelie team this year after working in the musculoskeletal, sport, and women’s health physiotherapy industries across NSW and the ACT in private practices. She has a passion for treating all things women’s health, but has a special interest in assisting and supporting women during their pre and post-natal journeys.

Even though Erin’s passion lies in pelvic health she understands the importance that the rest of the body can have on the pelvic floor. She continues to treat all types of injuries and problems because she knows that one body part can influence another – finding the solution comes from understanding the whole body, not just one aspect.  She strongly believes in holistic care and strives to be apart of each woman’s journey to reach their specific goals.
