Dr Jodi Croft

Dr Jodi Croft is a local Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working predominantly at Wollongong Private Hospital.  She completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney, and undertook her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St George Hospital in Kogarah, with a large part of her training at The Wollongong Hospital.

Jodi has a special interest in obstetrics, general gynaecology and laparoscopic surgery including hysterectomy and robotic assisted surgery; having completed her fellowship in advanced gynaecology and laparoscopic surgery with Dr Greg Robertson (Gynaecological Oncologist).

Jodi is a conjoint lecturer and examiner for the University of New South Wales and has been heavily involved in the education of junior doctors and RANZCOG trainees.  She works oncall in the public hospital at Nowra and is married, with five boys.

Dr Pip Gale

Dr Pip Gale (MBBS (Hons), FRANZCOG) is a local female Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She graduated from University of Tasmania in 2004 and completed her fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in NSW, with most of her training completed at St George and Wollongong Hospital. She grew up in Tasmania and has lived in France, Belgium and spent a year of her training in the remote Kimberleys.

She has fifteen years experience working in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and her main interest is now Obstetrics. She works exclusively at Wollongong Private Hospital and shared her on call with Dr Jodi Croft. 

She has a Thermiva vaginal treatment clinic for women interested in non surgical treatment of vaginal dryness, pain, mild prolapse and incontinence.

Dr Gale is married with three young children. When not working, she is at the beach, exercising, reading, gardening or travelling.

Dr Kristina King

Dr Kristina King is a Gynaecologist who studied medicine at the University of New South Wales. She is Australian trained having completed her specialist training at across a number of hospitals in Sydney including St George Hospital, Sutherland Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Women and Wollongong Hospital.

At Wollongong Private Hospital, Dr King cares for women with a variety of gynaecological problems including pain and abnormal menstrual bleeding, abnormal cervical screening results, ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, menopausal symptoms and post-menopausal bleeding.

She has a strong focus on preventative medicine and enjoys working with women to optimise their health before having a baby, and helping women choose contraception that is right for them.

Dr Zhuoran Chen

Specialties: Gynaecology and Urogynaecology 

Dr Zhuoran Chen is a Gynaecologist who underwent specialist training at St George Hospital, Sydney with rotations to Wollongong. Her passion for treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction and minimally invasive surgery led her to complete her subspecialist qualifications at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital with a focus on advanced laparoscopic pelvic floor reconstruction as well as complex laparoscopic and vaginal mesh removal surgery.  As every woman is a unique individual, the skills Dr Chen brings back to Wollongong enables her to provide tailored care for women in the south coast. 

Dr Chen provides expert care for women with complex pelvic floor disorders including recurrent prolapse, incontinence, gynaecological mesh removal (for pain and other dysfunction) and urodynamic services.  She also has a special interest in reducing women’s pelvic floor dysfunction and postpartum.

When not in clinical practice, Dr Chen advocates for women’s health through teaching, research and being an active member of the community. She is a Senior lecturer at the University of NSW and is heavily involved in medical student teaching. Dr Chen is the Chair of the International Urogynaecological Association: Social Media committee, which promotes women’s health in the online platform. She also speaks fluent Mandarin and loves to paint in her spare time.

Dr Elizabeth Maxwell

Fertility Specialist and Gynaecologist

Dr Elizabeth Maxwell is a fertility specialist and gynaecologist who welcomes patients into her rooms at The Fertility Centre / IVF Australia Wollongong and is accredited to operate at Wollongong Private Hospital.

Elizabeth has worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 2010 but has been focused on fertility since 2015. She obtained a Bachelor of Science through the University of Sydney before moving to Brisbane where she completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of QLD. She then returned to Sydney where she worked at Royal North Shore Hospital, completing her internship and residency as well as her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training. During this time she also completed a Masters of Reproductive Medicine from the University of NSW. Elizabeth spent 6 months at the National University Hospital in Singapore completing a clinical fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility and became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2017. Elizabeth is in the very final stages of obtaining her CREI (Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility) which is the highest qualification a fertility specialist can hold in Australia. Over 4 years she has trained at Monash IVF in Melbourne and IVF Australia in Sydney in reproductive endocrinology, menopause, paediatric and adolescent gynaecology and surgery as well as all aspects of infertility and IVF. She sat and passed 2 rigorous examinations in 2020 as part of her qualification.

Elizabeth is known for her thorough and caring approach, taking time to listen to her patients’ concerns. She is passionate about helping all patients achieve their dream of becoming parents whether they are in a heterosexual or same sex relationship, or would like to become a single mother or father by choice.

Elizabeth has moved back to the beautiful Illawarra to bring up her family after falling in love with the area when she lived there in 2016. Outside of work she can usually be found down at the beach or ferrying her kids to various playgrounds on the back of her bike.
